kari’s take on the spring equinox
Happy Spring 🌷
Last week marked the Equinox, that rare and potent moment in the year when day and night are equal. A point of true balance in the outer world, this is the week to try your balancing poses and be amazed. Because, as Ayurveda teaches us, the external environment mirrors the internal environment.
We are firmly in Kapha season, the time of earth and water. Kapha accumulates during winter to protect us from the season's cold and dryness. As the warmth of Spring arrives, that accumulation begins to liquify and move.
Do you feel it?
Heaviness. Congestion. Sluggishness. Feeling like you are stuck in the mud (every morning in the paddock right now for me...)
This isn't random. It is seasonal intelligence and your smart body doing what they are supposed to do: clearing the excess of winter.
This is where Ayurveda offers such profound guidance.
Rather than suppressing the symptoms, we want to support the body's natural process of elimination. We lighten, we simplify, we clear what has built up, so the system can return to its optimal blueprint.
Cleansing, in this context, is not about deprivation.
It is about creating the conditions for the body to do what it already knows how to do.
Each year, I look forward to sharing this work with you.
Our Annual Spring Ayurvedic Cleanse, co-led with Larissa Hall Carlson, is a thoughtful, supportive, and deeply grounding way to align with the season. Together, we will work with a mono-diet of kitchari, a perfect protein and healing food, a daily rhythm of yoga, meditation, and pranayama, and simple practices to help your body release excess Kapha to restore clarity, energy, and balance. Plus, as a cleanse participant you can choose to do the daily yoga livestream or come to class in person, included in same price.
If you have been feeling the weight of winter lingering, physically or mentally, this is your invitation.
To reset. To release. To clear out. It's Spring Cleaning for your Body.
We begin in April 12th, and I would love for you to join us.
With love,
Kari
